Description:
Aboutface began as a “feel good” Christmas fundraising project by faculty and students in the Cambrian College Graphic Design Program—the kind of activity that those of us who consider ourselves fortunate feel compelled to do during the bountiful holiday season. That quick-fix altruism quickly changed over the course of three cold November nights spent with the first people we met. We came face to face with our own misconceptions and ignorance about the issues faced by the men, women and children who rely on local shelters and soup kitchens. Subsequently, Aboutface became a six-year series of fundraising exhibitions, culminating in this printed record in book form. All proceeds sales from Aboutface have been directed to the Samaritan Centre to continue their work in supporting the poor and homeless in our community.
