Description: Sudbury Women in Art was an idea initiated in 2017 by Johanna Westby, who asked me to collaborate with her on the project. We equally took part in the curation, editing, and design of the book, which aimed to highlight and showcase the talent of female artists within the Sudbury community. The book features the work and insights of 25 female artists, with perspectives on areas such as creating art in the North, overcoming creator’s block, artistic processes, challenges faced, and reflections on what it means to be a working mother. Additional thanks goes out to Stacey Lalande for taking the head shots, and Danielle Daniel for editing for the final print. This was a philanthropic project, with proceeds donated in part to the YWCA, as well as to create a bursary for young aspiring artists enrolled in Cambrian College’s Design and Visual Arts Program.
